IE7 More Widely Available

Version 7 of Internet Explorer is now available to all who run Windows XP.  It no longer requires Windows Genuine Advantage validation before download and installation.
In addition, IE7 has made some minor changes to the software itself:

Menu bar is now visible by default
New MSI installer that should simplify installation for IT departments.

Public Library Charging for Wireless Access

The Winnipeg Public Library is charging patrons for use of the wireless access to the Internet.  There is no charge for access to the library resources like the catalog or databases.  However, access to the Internet is $3 Canadian per hour.  This is to help pay for the installation of the Internet, which was $23,000.

Instead of using hand-controlled joysticks for gaming, researchers are working with brain-controlled joysticks.  Brain-Controlled Interfaces (BCI) allow you to control things with your mind.  Some gaming companies are set to release BCI-controlled games in the next year.

Talk about a mash-up.  Scott Hessels and Gabriel Dunne took flight data from the Federal Aviation Administration and plotted it visually over time using Adobe After Effects and Maya.  The result is a group of QuickTime videos showing flight patterns over the United States for March 19, 20o5.
