LOUIS Indexes Federal Government Information

Posted by: Christine Peterson on: November 4, 2007

LOUIS allows you to search federal documents.  At this point, this beta service allows you to search:

  • Congressional Reports
  • Congressional Record
  • Congressional Hearings
  • Federal Register
  • Presidential Documents
  • GAO Reports
  • Bills & Resolutions

It looks like it uses a basic keyword search, which can be used for single, multiple or all seven databases.  An added bonus is the RSS feed so you can subscribe to the databases for current information or to a specific search.

LOUIS was created by the Sunlight Foundation:

Founded in January 2006, the Sunlight Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) educational organization, supports, develops and deploys new Internet technologies to make information about Congress and the federal government more accessible to the American people.
