Microsoft Data Center in San Antonio
Posted by on November 20, 2008
In September, Microsoft opened a data center in San Antonio. It is in the Westover Hills area, which is near Sea World and the medical district. This center follows their Environmental Sustainability initiative by making it as eco-friendly as possible.
They learned a great deal when building their last data center in Quincy, Washington and brought those lessons to bear on this project. Highlights include:
- Use of 8,000,000 gallons of recycled water per month
- Because of site selection, future plans include use of wind and solar power
- Most power-efficient center to date
