Internet Explorer 7 and CSS

The IE Blog has posted a list of the Cascading Style Sheet features and changes that have been implemented in Internet Explorer 7. The list includes over 200 changes and should provide much more compliance toward CSS 2.1. They work, however, only when you include the DOCTYPE statement at the top of the document that invokes the standards-compliant mode. You can read about IE’s “DOCTYPE Switch” at their web site. For example, if you use this DOCTYPE, standards-mode will be turned on:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN”
http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd”>

At the end of this post (before the comments) is a paragraph about upgrading people’s web sites so they are standards-compliant. At this point, IE is still providing support for all the web sites that were done incorrectly. To help with this, they have provided tools and documentation that can help.
