Remove Caps-Lock Key

The Capsoff organization wants to ban the Caps-Lock key from all keyboards.  Their reasons include:

  • PEOPLE WRITING IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS — LOOKS LIKE SHOUTING.
  • It is easy to press inadvertently, causing problems with typing case-sensitive logins and passwords.
  • In some word processors, text typed in all capital letters is not automatically corrected, but must be re-typed in both upper and lower case.

Although this campaign is just a few weeks old, people have started looking at the functionality of other keys on their keyboard, e.g., Insert, PrtSc, Scroll Lock.  Who knows?  A new keyboard may be in the offing . . .
