Wi-Fi Standard Delayed Until 2008

IEEE 802.11n, an up and coming Wi-Fi standard will be delayed.  Its first draft was out in January 2006; the second was supposed to have been out about now.  There were so many comments on the first draft, however, that the second draft probably won’t be out until January 2007, pushing the possible ratification to sometime in 2008.

So, if you see products labeled 802.11n-compliant, be cautious.  They may work now, but they may not be compliant when the standard is finally ratified.
