Wired Weighs More Than Wireless?
Yes . . . at least in Boeing’s upcoming airplane — the 787 Dreamliner. Boeing considered providing a wireless network on board and found that it would increase the weight of the plane by 200 pounds; a wired network would increase by just 50 pounds. Ultimately, this was not the reason they opted for the wired network. Apparently, some of the countries would not provide the wireless frequencies needed.
