LITA’s New Interest Group – NGCIG

LITA has created a new interest group — one focused on next-generation catalogs. The Next Generation Catalog Interest Group was formed after ALA Midwinter in Seattle. From Thomas Dowling, the chair:

NGCIG gives LITA a discussion space devoted to developments in the library catalog, its nature and scope, and its  interfaces. It provides a forum for presentations and sharing of innovation in catalogs and discussion of future directions. Collaborations with other LITA interest groups, such as in the areas of emerging technologies and open source software, will provide opportunities for programming.

The mailing list is open to LITA members and non-members, however it will probably deal with the unit’s business.  Discussion on the topic of next-generation catalogs can be found on the NGC4LIB list.
