Texas Librarians Author Federated Searching Book

Alexis Linoski of The University of Texas at Arlington Library and Tine Walczyk of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission will be coming out with a book on federated searching early next year. Federated Search: A Librarian’s Guide will be published by Chandos Publishing Limited and should be out by February 2008.

From the publisher:

Federated Search is an emerging feature of automated, web based library and information retrieval systems. Aimed at professionals within Library and Information Services (LIS), this book is a practical guide for the selection and implementation of a Federated Search product. It is written to provide librarians in all settings with information to understand the uses of Federated Search, the features of Federated Search products, considerations for training both faculty/staff and students, as well as costs and technical considerations.
