Face Recognition at University of Houston

The University of Houston is working on face recognition technology to be used in place of the multitudes of logins and passwords we all have.  Instead of using facial characteristics, UH takes a three-dimensional snapshot of a face and creates a dataset specific to the person.  When going through the authorization process, the biometric device takes another snapshot of the face, creates the dataset and matches it to a dataset it already has.
