Personal Information Trainer Benefit
On LLRX, there is an article about an employment benefit called a Personal Information Trainer (PIT). This is given to those few in an organization who are deemed to be essential to the success of the organization.
Basically, they are given the personal services of a librarian. A librarian is assigned to one of these key individuals and keeps them up-to-date in their field(s), helps in the research, and provides training if necessary. The services are the same as those given to others, however, in this case, they are more targeted to the person and their position and the work is more proactive.
The author, Stuart Basefsky, states that having this type of benefit provides validation for the employee given the PIT. It also means that the PIT and the library services are seen as a valuable service within the organization.
Definitely a good read.
