Are You Too Old to Drive? Soon, Your Car May Tell You

It’s true!  MIT’s AgeLab is working on just such a car.  It will tell you whether you’re too sleepy, hungry, or just too old to drive.  But don’t worry — it won’t be ready for at least another 20 years — just in time to catch the baby boomers!

Although I’m spinning this negatively just for the humor, it really should be looked at in a positive manner.  It will help all of us, especially seniors, drive safely for as long as possible.  From the MIT website:

In collaboration with the global auto industry including ToyotaNissanVolkswagenFordDaimlerChrysler and , researchers from MIT’s Department of Aeronautics and AstronauticsHarvard Medical SchoolBen Gurion Universityin Israel, and MIT’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the AgeLab is conducting extensive research on the design integration of intelligent transportation systems and their promise to promote lifelong safe driving.
